The Rise of ORNAP in Pangasinan

The Rise of ORNAP in Pangasinan

By Leonard Gil G. Cabuang, RN

The Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines (ORNAP) is an organization that promotes the highest professional standard of perioperative nursing care. As a group of competent and dynamic operating room nurses, it commits to innovation and provision of optimum perioperative health care services locally and internationally.

The Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital would be spearheading the establishment of ORNAP’s Pangasinan Chapter in collaboration with the different hospitals in the province. Different institutions were encouraged to participate in the formation of the chapter. Members of the organization will have opportunities to attend seminars and the annual ORNAP convention. There will also be scholarships, awards, recognition, mutual aid, legal assistance and a quarterly newsletter as members’ benefits.

Furthermore, the formation of the ORNAP’s Chapter will be officially held simultaneously with the ORNAP’s Seminar on “PRACTICE THROUGH SURGICAL PROFICIENCY: TOOLS TO COMBAT SURGICAL SITE INFECTION” at the Conservatory Hall, 2/f of DDVMH’s Main Building, on the 5th of October, Friday.

Efforts to establish an ORNAP: Pangasinan Chapter has long been sought by Operating Room Nurses here in Pangasinan. Luckily for us, the DDVMH Medical Director, Dr. Vivencio P. Villaflor III, gave interminable support for us to create our very own Chapter in the province. With this, we aim to aid in refreshing operating room nurses with the latest updates on peri-operative healthcare management.  A lot of OR nurses would be able to attend these workshops prepared for them because of the accessibility made possible by the chapter. We would like to thank the current president of ORNAP National, Ms. Rajel Belen, Vice President, Mr. Gabriel Naig, and Board Member, Mr.  Dickson Miciano, for giving us an immeasurable amount of support.
