To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hospital, the DDVMH Medical Association launched “Treasures for Lives”! The target was to raise a MILLION to support the year-long activities of the VVMF Foundation. It was a challenge to the consultant staff but they delivered and we made it… and more!
The first part was the “Tag Sale”. For three months, the Music Conservatory was converted into a barter zone. Consultants brought gowns, designer clothes, pants, shoes, bags, jewelry, to be sold at bargain prices. The hospital employees had fun as did the doctors in emptying their closets! Halfway through the sale, we were reaching half our target!
The second part was the “Auction and Dinner for a Cause”. Dr. Hazel Gazmen donated her collection of paintings and artwork from her artist friends. Dr. Cris Torio donated three of his paintings and Dr. Oliver Ferrer donated a beautiful bonsai. Dr. Marcelino Bartolome donated a buffet table. The Villaflors were generous in auctioning off some rare stamps and postcards and a very special card written by St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta to the family. The dinner in itself held on the eve of Dr. Nene Villaflor’s 75th Birthday was special, with everyone in black and GOLD! At the end of the dinner, we struck a MILLION!
The third part is getting support for the medical and surgical missions of the hospital. This will be a partnership with Pharma and medical suppliers and friends. Christmas is just around the corner. “Treasures for Lives- Tag Sale 2” will again be held in January 2019! There is more to come and more to share!
